Social networking site WhatsApp has changed its position, now saying that no user can use their account from May 15 if they refuse the privacy policy.
“No account will be deleted or WhatsApp lost on May 15 due to this update,” the Facebook-owned company said in a statement Friday.
This position has changed in recent weeks with WhatsApp saying that users who refuse to accept the new privacy policy for instant messaging use for smartphones will not have access to “full features” until May 15.
Among the limited features, there may even be reading or sending messages.
Facebook and WhatsApp, the most widely used messaging app worldwide, have repeatedly denied information that this update will allow users and groups to access their geolocation.
This update on Privacy Policy has raised doubts and misinformation about the use of information such as Facebook contacts and conversation histories.
Due to these controversies and confusions, WhatsApp has extended the deadline for accepting privacy policies from February to May.
