The group was founded by brothers Joe and Mario Duplantier in the commune of Ondre in southwestern France in 1996 under the name Godzilla. His name was changed to Gojira.the Japanese name for the fictional monster who first appeared on the big screen 70 years ago, in 2001 due to copyrighted concerts. Gojira released her first album, “Terra Incognita,” that same year.
Since then, Gojira has received three Grammy nominations. In 2017, Rolling Stone named the band's 2005 album From Mars to Sirius “the best music album of the year.” Metal album #97 among the greatest albums of all timeTwo of the songs on the album include “marine mammal conservation themes.”
“The band became an instant success in their native France, quickly becoming a spokesperson for environmental issues, and Joe became the country's first real guitarist in decades,” Rolling Stone reported.
The newspaper “Le Parisien” reported that the band “Gojira”, which holds the record for the highest concert at the Stade de France, will perform with the French-Swiss opera singer Marina Viotti.
