New or just improved?
When peripheral manufacturers release a new mouse or keyboard for PC gamers, it’s not always a newly developed model. Technical improvements are often offered only to well-known series such as a more modern scanning unit, revised toggle switches, or a variable format. If this is the case, one is talking more of a facelift than a new version with innovative technology or equipment.
Old models, new technology
With two Huntsman V2 models, whose main Razer key and isolation were reviewed, and the three wireless gaming mice, there were a total of five products in our test that were technically reviewed, but didn’t have any real innovations in terms of hardware (number of keys, memory size, additional keys) or characteristics (size, shape, feel) can be determined. Glorious PC Gaming Race, for example, cuts the cable on the Model O/O and Model D/D and replaces the old sensor with a more modern version. The shape, size, lightweight construction, number of additional keys, and even a colorful LED indicator on the underside of the Dpi switch are preserved. The situation is similar to Corsair’s M65 Ultra RGB Wireless. The Marksman sensor, optical switches, and gesture recognition technology are new here. In terms of the look, special build and fittings that include extra weights and a sniper button, there are no changes compared to the predecessor. With a Pixart PMW3370 sensor, key switches including a new socket (key change) and Dpi-On-The-Scroll functionality, Asus has also given the Spatha X only a technical upgrade, but no new additions.
