the Video Game History Foundation (VGHF) as part of the fundraiser released some previously unknown content in a video cut from the game for the release of Sonic 2 in time for the 1992 Christmas season. Design documents containing Sprite Art information, a color palette from Sonic 2 artist Tom Payne’s set, and a world map drawn from designer Game Hirokazu Yasuhara to create a partial reconstruction of the Cyber City Zone.
The video also shows other unused stages developed by artist Brenda Cook. Two of the three removed zones (Wood Zone and Sand Shower Zone, which can now be admired in animation for the first time) have already been shown in screenshots and prototypes of Sonic 2.
There’s now insight into the third world, which was supposed to take place in a snowy winter, as well as other animations from other games. The information surfaced on an old videotape containing Brenda Cook’s work, which VHGF had purchased from her.
Many of those are summarized in the video Information about Sonic 2 cut content is also available on The Cutting Room Floor website To read.
