Niantic Technology Enriches Cultural Institutions • Nintendo Connect

Visitors to the Pergamon Gallery in Pforzheim can experience one of the many cultural projects realized with the eighth wall.

The exhibition is the result of a unique collaboration between the Classical Collection of the Berlin State Museums and Yadegar Asisi. The focus is on the large circular painting of more than 3,500 square meters designed by Yadegar Asisi, which condenses the city and community of Pergamon into a large artistic space and brings it to life. The exhibition catalog has been enriched with interactive AR items thanks to software from 8th Wall and Niantic.

Through the AR functionality, readers receive an amplified visualization of centuries of research into an art display at a glance. This makes history and art tangible at home long after a gallery visit. All you need is a catalog and a smartphone. Such projects impressively show potential augmented reality displays for cultural institutions and what the museum of the future could look like.
