Atlanta (AP) – T1 beat JD Gaming in their first League of Legends World Championship semi-final. In his fifth World Cup, superstar Lee “Faker” Sang-Hyeok set a record.
Faker said in a post-match interview about a possible final duel, according to a translation: “In our last match against General J, we couldn’t do anything at all and just lost. This time we’re trying even harder.” “We are a different team now, it will be our chance to show that.”
After the quarter-finals, a clear picture emerged: Three of the semi-finalists were Korean teams, and only JD Gaming from the Chinese League was left. However, the team won only the first game in a semi-final full of team fights, T1 eventually prevailed with three straight games in a row.
The upcoming All-Korean World Cup Final will be Faker’s fifth T1 title on the line since 2016. With jungle player Bae “Bengi” Seong-woong having since stepped up to the team coach position, a win could make Faker the only LoL player to have won four world championships. .
