Charles Kamdem Poeghela on Kajou Technology: “Delivering a No Data Purchase Solution on the Internet”

[DIGITAL Business Africa] – Bibliothèque representative sans Frontières to Partners Charles Kamdem Poeghela explained the format for the presentation of Kajou’s “Push and Pull” technology at the Clac Library premises located in Yaounde, Thursday, December 16, 2021.

Head of Library Without Borders, Jeremy Lachal, introduced the technology, and moderated the virtual conference by Leah Battal, the NGO’s director of operations.

DIGITAL Business Africa: How important is push and pull technology? ”

Charles Camdem: Push and pull technology allows information to be pushed to the Kajou Card without the user even realizing it. Better, it sends the data to Service Provider X. Concretely, if the Cameroonian government, through the Ministry of Agriculture, wants to send the information to the farmers, we can publish this information. If they want to collect usage data, we can track it. Without the need for an internet connection. DIGITAL Business Africa: Such a project requires political will, in order to be sustainable.

What are your expectations for the Cameroonian government in implementing this technology?

Charles Camdem: We thank the government for the institutional framework that allows us to deploy. Now we want to meet with the decentralized authorities that are close to us as well as the central authorities. In order to be able to work on the implementation of a certain number of services, in the digital sphere, as well as in ministries that deal with youth issues of job education and vocational training.

DIGITAL Business Africa: Why this focus on Sub-Saharan Africa and the Middle East?

Charles Camdem: We position ourselves in relation to the Off Line. This is due to the fact that the countries of the Middle East and Sub-Saharan Africa are less developed economically than other countries. So our task is to provide a solution that does not need to buy data on the Internet in a particular community, for example, immigrants etc. It’s about targeting the hardest of people, whether in the US, Australia, or anywhere else. We can put content in all existing languages.
