“Conversion work is in full swing,” Winnie Ransmayer, Project Manager for The Last, said on the phone. The 4,000-square-meter building has served as the company’s headquarters for a long time. Starting in the fall, youngsters from 14 years old can get creative and work out on three floors. In addition to esports and games, the ‘hello yellow bowl’ sports facility aims to promote youth in the city. “In urban areas, opportunities to play sports are limited, and it is one of my personal interests to create new opportunities, especially for young people,” says Gerd Schermeyer.

A skating bowl and BMX bowl will be built in the basement, while rooms on the other floors invite you to exchange ideas or hold events. Gamers will also get their money’s worth: with 32 PCs and 20 consoles, the gaming zone will definitely not be boring. A comic shop makes fans’ hearts beat faster and board games can also be borrowed on site. “During the planning phase, we were in close contact with the regional players—skaters, gamers, artists, musicians—because it was important for us to know the needs of the different scenes,” Ranzier explains. More details will be announced by June at the latest.
