Vietnam actively supports research and application of nuclear technology

On the occasion of receiving financial contributions for the second phase of the renovation of Nuclear Applications Laboratories 2 – ReNuAL 2) from the International Atomic Energy Agency, the Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency, Rafael Mariano Grossi, introduced the ambassadors and permanent representatives of Member States. Including Portugal, Kazakhstan, Kenya, Republic of Malta, Montenegro, Ireland and Vietnam with a brick symbolizing each country’s contribution to the project.

Ambassador Nguyen Trong said the contributions to the ReNuAL 2 project demonstrate Vietnam’s responsibility in promoting the development of nuclear technology for peaceful purposes, and underscore the important role of the International Atomic Energy Agency and other research institutions of this organization in the application of atomic technology for sustainable development. At the regional level, Vietnam actively participated in the Regional Agreement on Cooperation on Development, Research and Training in Nuclear Science and Technology for Asia and the Pacific (CAR).

Deputy Director-General of the International Atomic Energy Agency, Liu Hua, said he wants Vietnam to take over the IAEA’s board chair position in 2022. He added that the agency will support Vietnam to successfully assume this role.
