Trevor Pinnock plays Bach II from Well-Tempered Clavier with super calm and excellent harp on the ukulele.
two years ago Trevor Pinnock She already recorded the first part of Johann Sebastian Bach’s Well-Tempered Clavier. Now the English bassist presents the second part, which Bach composed twenty years later, and which also contains 24 preludes and vocals in all keys. In fact, new recordings of Bach’s piano music on the harpsichord are becoming rare, probably due to the much greater creative potential of the grand piano compared to the harpsichord. In Pinnock’s recording—which, incidentally, is also technically excellent—it is exemplified that the chromatic and dynamic limitations of a harpsichord need not be a defect in and of themselves, provided one approaches the work with such a superior disposition as Pinnock did. He does not exaggerate anything, neither in agogic nor in choice of tempi, but he makes strides through the world of Bach with the superlative calmness of a mature artist.
