On May 9th (local time), Microsoft announced an update to Snipping Tool (version 11.2404.35.0). First, it will be tested in the Windows Insider Preview Canary/Dev channel.
“Snipping Tool” is a standard desktop photography application for Windows 11. It can be started by pressing a key[Print Screen]Or keys[Windows]+[Shift]+[S], and it can save the entire desktop, selected windows, or selected desktop areas as images. You can also record by pressing keys[Windows]+[Shift]+[R].
This update includes the following improvements:
Enter emojis
You can now insert your favorite emojis into captured screenshots. You can create expressive images by adding emojis that express emotions and actions, and you can also overlay emojis to hide areas that are difficult for people to see, such as those related to privacy.
Commands for inserting emojis are available from the Shape toolbar. When you click the command button, the Emoji panel appears and the selected emoji is dropped into the center of the canvas. Dropped emojis can be moved and resized freely.
QR code detection
Recently, with the interest in viewing documents on smartphones, links have become increasingly readable using QR codes. On the other hand, perhaps because people have forgotten how to view the site on the desktop, there are no links written in the text, and it is becoming more and more difficult to search for the URL.
Therefore, a function to automatically detect QR codes has been added to the latest Snipping Tool. It is implemented as part of the text detection function (Text Action), and when a document is captured using the Snipping Tool and the Text Action command is executed, a link icon is added to the detected QR code. Click this to open the embedded URL in your web browser.
Improve the functionality of the form
There have also been some improvements to form function. For example, in the panel where you specify fill and outline colors, you can also adjust the color's transparency. The Show More drop-down menu (three-dot icon on the far right of the toolbar) has reintroduced the Ruler tool, which can be toggled with Ctrl+R.
