The second season of the Last of Us series stars Jeffrey Wright as Isaac

Jeffrey Wright has joined the second season of HBO's The Last of Us. diverse to learn.

Wright will appear in the role of Isaac, which he previously played in the video game “The Last Us Part II.” The character is described as “the strong, quiet leader of a large militia group seeking freedom but instead becomes mired in an endless war against a surprisingly resourceful enemy.”

Wright will appear in the series alongside returning series leads Pedro Pascal, Bella Ramsey, Gabrielle Luna, and Rutina Wesley. New cast members this season include Kaitlyn Dever as Abby, Isabella Merced as Dina, Young Mazino as Jessie, Ariella Barrer as Mel, Tati Gabrielle as Nora, Spencer Lord as Owen, and Danny Ramirez as Manny. Catherine O'Hara also guest stars in an undisclosed role.

Wright is one of the most popular actors of his generation. He recently received his first Academy Award nomination for his leading role in “American Fiction,” for which he also received a Golden Globe nomination. He is also a five-time Emmy Award nominee, winning Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Miniseries for HBO's “Angels in America.” He previously won a Tony Award for the Broadway production of Angels in America. He has been nominated for three Emmy Awards for his work on HBO's “Westworld,” and most recently for Outstanding Voice Over Performance for the Marvel Animated Series “What If…?” Wright's other credits include “The Batman,” three of Daniel Craig's James Bond films, “Asteroid City” and two “The Hunger Games: Mockingjay” films.

“The Last of Us” is written and executive produced by Craig Mazin and Neil Druckman. Both have also directed episodes of the show and will do so again in season two. Caroline Strauss and Evan Wells, President of Naughty Dog, executive produce alongside Asad Kizilbaş and Carter Swan of PlayStation Productions as well as Jacqueline Lesko and Cecil O'Connor. . The series is a co-production between HBO and Sony Pictures Television. PlayStation Productions, World Games, The Mighty Mint and Naughty Dog produce.
