Statement about the launch
Xbox and PC owners around the world were recently able to play the new sci-fi adventure Starfield. There are now initial comments on Bethesda’s launch and a look ahead at what players can expect.
Starfield has already received a lot of criticism. Developers are now taking some of these into consideration and working on a list of user requests. The studio is also looking to the distant future, with years of updates planned:
Player’s wishes
“First and foremost, a huge thank you to everyone who plays Starfield and their support. We’re absolutely blown away by the response and everything you love about the game,” the company now explains in a statement. Blog post. “We also read all your great comments about what you would like to improve or add to the game.” Although some of the most common fan requests, such as the availability of city maps, won’t be met immediately, Bethesda plans to support the game with updates and features for “years and years.” “Our priority is first to make sure we fix any critical bugs or stability issues and add the quality features that many want,” the company adds.
The makers of Starfield have confirmed that upcoming patches will include built-in brightness and contrast controls, HDR calibration, an FOV slider, and support for ultra-wide displays, among other things.
While some fans have already hacked the game’s Nvidia DLSS support, Bethesda will also implement the upscaling technology in a future update.
A much-requested “Quality of Life” feature is also planned, a button that will allow players to eat food they find during their travels instead of storing it. The company is also working with AMD, Nvidia, and Intel on additional driver improvements.
