Technology can play a major role in taking education to the last point: VP Venkaiah Naidu

Vice President Venkaiah Naidu said on Saturday that technology can play a major role in getting education to the last mile by transcending barriers. He also called for the “Indianization” of the education system on the basis of the country’s wealth of ancient wisdom, and said that the colonial education system created a complex situation of inferiority and mistrust among the people.

Mr. Naidoo said there is a need to transform the education system on the basis of values, as foreseen in the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. Noting that education plays a vital role in changing the nation, he called for education to be made “important”. Emphasizing the need for comprehensive improvement in education, Mr. Naidoo said that the quality of research and teaching at all levels, international agency ratings, employability of graduates and many other aspects of the education system need to be improved.
