- The web version of Chrome now supports automatic translations for the video being played
- Features similar to Automatic Translations on Google Pixel devices
- However, currently only English subtitles are supported.
“Automatic Translation Copy” was added to the web version of the Google Chrome browser service as a new feature in version v119 (119.0.6045.106).
Auto Translate Copy in the web version of Chrome is a similar function to Auto Translate Copy on Google Pixel devices. It reads the audio of the video being played and displays them as subtitles at the bottom of the screen.
To use it, turn on the Automatic Subtitle Copy switch from the Media Operations button that appears at the top right of the screen while the video is playing. However, Auto Translate for the web version of Chrome currently only supports English.
It only provides English translation for English conversations, and translation has not been implemented yet.
The Auto Translate feature in the web version of Chrome is expected to be compatible with multiple languages and translations in the future. This is a feature I look forward to in the future.
By the way, the Auto Translate Backup settings for the web version of Chrome are stored in the Accessibility Features category in Settings in Chrome.
