There’s a rumor going around that State of Decay 3, the long-awaited sequel to Undead Labs’ 2018 game, is scheduled to be released in 2027. This particular rumor started after it was discovered In the Art Station profile Belongs to the Undead Labs lighting artist and artists. Nearly a decade
It’s possible that this is an old date that was referenced and was removed to avoid any confusion, or it could be that it was a legitimate, planned release date for State of Decay 3. About two years ago Undead Labs released a teaser showcasing State of Decay 3, and since then, it’s… Everything is quiet.
We haven’t received any further news regarding the game, but the 2018 State of Decay 2 update continues. Just a few weeks ago the “Curveball” update was implemented for State of Decay 2, bringing players a mechanic that can see randomly generated events occur in the game.
If State of Decay 3 launches in 2027, that would mean widespread gamers would be subject to a roughly ten-year delay between games. These days, that’s not a foreign concept. It’s been ten years between Dead Island and Dead Island 2, for example – and at the moment, Elder Scrolls VI is on track to be released more than fifteen years after Elder Scrolls V.
