Sony Interactive Entertainment has confirmed plans to launch a PlayStation Direct online store in Europe, which will allow customers across the continent to purchase consoles and devices directly from Sony.
Sony’s plan was unveiled at an investor meeting and the company aims to launch PlayStation Direct in Germany, the United Kingdom, Ireland, France, Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg by March 2022.
Unfortunately, Portugal is not on the list of countries where the service will be launched initially. It is unclear whether Sony’s direct sales service will be available to customers in other countries.
In the United States, the PlayStation Direct was launched in 2019, which was a huge success for the company, said Jim Ryan. Sony’s president estimates “300% growth” in service in the current fiscal year, thanks to a European introduction.
According to Sony’s accounts, the PlayStation Direct has grossed $ 5 million in fiscal 2019 and more than $ 200 million in fiscal 2020, and is expected to earn $ 600 million in the current fiscal year.
At the same meeting it was revealed that Sony plans to bring additional features to the PC and that the next game to adapt to the computer may be the Unchart 4.
