A new controller for the PlayStation 5, the DualSense Edge Wireless Controller, was revealed at the opening of Night Live, allowing the entire gaming experience to be customized thanks to hardware and software-based customization options. Sony is introducing the new hardware piece in more detail in a current press release.
It is possible to make adjustments, among other things, to the controls, such as the input of keys, sticks and triggers. Once players find the optimal setting for themselves or individual games, they can be saved to control profiles. There’s also a controller-specific user interface, stick covers, and swappable back buttons.
Stick units can also be changed, Sony explains. With all the innovations, the well-known functions of the DualSense Wireless Controller remain, such as haptic feedback, adaptive triggers, built-in microphone or motion control.
Daisuke Kurihara, the technical director who led the development of the controller, said of the development:
“We wanted (…) to create a console that would allow players to experiment with and customize items based on their unique playing style – whether they’re professional players or simply want to have more options to customize their gaming experience.”
