A new version of the system software is being rolled out for PlayStation 5 consoles worldwide today, and it brings with it many new features and functionality. A daily press release provides information about the exciting update.

Starting now, PS5 consoles will be able to output 1440p HDMI video, compare 3D and stereo audio on a single screen, and make it easier to access ongoing activities from gaming hubs.

Playlists can also be created and a variety of social features added, including the ability to request a screen share from a group member and easily view new friends’ profiles. In addition, a new notification is now available to help join a friend’s game faster than in a group chat.

Moreover, new functions for PS . app added. A PS Remote Play session can be started via the PS app, and like the console, a member of the group can be asked to screen share to watch the game directly from the app.
