New at Pinakothek der Moderne: Shylight – a thriving blend of art, nature and technology

Evolution for Shellite It was a long process that required extensive research and technical innovation. Natural phenomena have been studied and observed for years in order to capture the movements and nuances of the plant world. The specially developed motors that enable these movements represent a technological masterpiece and are a testament to the fusion of art and science. Partnering with American Express® makes this art accessible to everyone, and Amex Art On creates artwork that will remain indelibly etched in visitors' memories.

Drift was founded in 2007 by designer duo Lonneke Gordijn and Ralph Nauta after the artists graduated from the Design Academy Eindhoven in 2005. Over the years, the Amsterdam-based studio has expanded and is now supported by over 60 employees.

A magical evening accompanied by the piano and delicious cuisine

The opening evening itself was a celebration of the senses and the arts. Presented by American Express® and Sleek Magazine, celebrities such as artist Ralph Nota, Sleek magazine publisher Christian Bracht, and musical talents Joep Beving and Emilio Sacraia came together to celebrate the rise of Shailite. Guests enjoyed delicious cuisine while enjoying two amazing shows presented by Shylight with live music. Later, two DJs created a lively atmosphere and concluded the evening perfectly.

At a time when the boundaries between nature and technology are increasingly blurring, Shaylight reminds us that the beauty and magic of nature remains unrivaled. A tribute to the wonders of our world, captured in a timeless work of art that invites us to marvel and dream.

American Express®

Shellite It can be enjoyed at the Pinakothek der Moderne in Munich city center until May 12, 2024. American Express is offering free admission to the first 500 visitors to the museum on the five Saturdays during the exhibition period.
