Misfits has announced it will be leaving the European League of Legends as eSports has announced that it has sold its place in the LEC to Team Heretics. as in one press release Mentioned, the move is part of the Misfits Gaming Group (MGG) move to invest in more creators along with esports, as the deal left Misfits as a minority shareholder in the LEC team.
“It’s bittersweet to know that our mission to diversify means we can’t be in all places at once, and we’re sad to say so long for the camaraderie and competitiveness of LEC,” said Misfits co-founder and CEO. The Games Group, Ben Spoon. “But we did not take this decision lightly and went through an extensive process that examined the many interested parties in the bid and concluded that the heretics team was the right choice to continue as responsible league supervisors.”
The deal will go into effect in the upcoming LEC season (2023) and what MGG plans to invest now that the LEC exit is in effect, the organization plans to “partner and collaborate with top developers from the gaming and streaming community to develop they are excited about,” such as the Minecraft server in the creator business.
