Millimeter wave measurement
The focus of Sikora’s presence at the trade fair is on the world premiere of the new models of the Centerwave 6000 family of online tube metering using millimeter wave technology early in the extrusion process.
Users use it to record wall thickness, inner coil, diameter, and ovality over the entire circumference of PVC pipe. The new Centerwave 6000/1200 covers a diameter of 250 to 1200 mm and meets the requirements of large tube manufacturers. Thanks to its slim design, it can be easily integrated into the production line. In-line, the system supports instant centralization, reliable and smooth quality control and optional automatic control.
The measuring principle of all models in the Centerwave 6000 series is based on millimeter wave technology: operation is easy with the push of a button – once activated, the operator immediately receives continuously and accurately measured values without presetting product parameters, without the influence of a coupling medium (water) and without any calibration. The basis for this is the determination of the exact refractive index of the substance at the measurement position; With this, both the wall thickness and the outer diameter can be accurately determined without calibrating the measurement system.
Immediately after the vacuum tank, knowledge of the refractive index, as well as measurement, provides an accurate prediction of the expected wall thickness and expected diameter values after cooling at the end of the extrusion line.
The Centerwave 6000/250 for smaller diameters from 50 to 250 mm is also celebrating its world premiere.
