Lenovo IdeaPad Gaming Chromebook 16 review: Play games while you do homework

This model features a 16-inch IPS display with a resolution of 1600p and 120Hz, which automatically makes it one of the best screens on a Chromebook. Black and white response times are fast, colors have full sRGB coverage, and maximum brightness is just above the advertised 350 nits. It’s no coincidence that these qualities make the IdeaPad Gaming Chromebook 16 the perfect Chromebook for game streaming. Sure, you can stream games to other Chromebooks, but the lower picture quality and increased shadows will detract from the experience.

Perhaps the biggest drawback is that Chrome OS does not fully support a 120Hz refresh rate at the time of writing, and as such the screen is still limited to 60Hz when running apps in a virtual machine. Google is expected to update Chrome OS with proper 120Hz support in the future. If 120Hz is important to you, you should wait until the update is available for purchase as prices can drop.

(Updated December 26, 2022: Explain that Chrome OS is limited to 60Hz when running applications in a virtualized environment such as those developed for Android or Windows. Some apps optimized for Chrome OS, like B. GeForce Now Streaming, run at 120Hz.)
