Jim Carrey says he was going to sue Will Smith for $200 million over the Oscar slap incident

Jim Carrey responds to Will Smith’s win for Chris Rock at the Oscars.

In an interview with CBS this morning On March 29, Carey expressed his disagreement with how the situation was handled, especially with Smith still winning Best Actor for King Richard After a brief period.

“I was given a standing ovation. Hollywood is weak collectively and it really felt like this was a really clear indication that we’re not the great club anymore,” said Carey.

The host, Gayle King, further speculated: “If anyone else in the audience had come out and done that, they would have been escorted by security outside or maybe even arrested.”

“It should have been,” Carey interrupted him.

When King spoke about Rock’s refusal to press charges, Carey said, “I was going to announce this morning that I would be suing Will for $200 million because this video will be around forever.”

He added, “If you want to shout out from the audience and show disapproval or say something on Twitter, you don’t have the right to go up on stage and hit someone in the face ‘because they said words’.”

King then suggested that the incident “escalated,” prompting Carrie to intervene: “It didn’t escalate, it just came out of nowhere because Will has something going on inside of him frustrated.

“I have nothing against Will Smith. He did great things. But this was not a good moment. It overshadowed the shining moment for everyone.”

The academy said that while there has been no punishment for Smith yet He might blame him for the accident.

Smith has since issued an apology to Rock, however, the comedian has yet to accept it publicly.
