Jamie Foxx thanks family and fans in first video since hospitalization: ‘I went to hell and back’

Jamie Foxx is speaking out for the first time since being hospitalized in April for an undisclosed medical condition.

The award-winning actor and musician, 55, posted an Instagram video update for fans overnight on Friday.

In the video, Fox addresses speculation as to why he was hospitalized, though he did not reveal details of what happened.

He said, “I know a lot of people have been waiting or wanting to hear updates but to be honest with you, I didn’t want you to see me like this, man.” “I want you to see me laugh, have a good time, party, make a joke, do a movie, make a TV show. I didn’t want you to see me with my tubes running out and trying to see if I’d make it through.”

Fox credited his daughter and sister for saving his life.

“For them, by God, for many great doctors,” he said, “I can leave you this video.” “I can’t tell you how great it feels for your family to start working this way, and you all know they kept it tight, they didn’t let anything out, they protected me, and that’s what I hope everyone gets in moments like this.”

Foxx has been spotted in Chicago in recent weeks, undergoing medical treatment at a facility that specializes in rehabilitative care for patients with physical disabilities or brain or spinal injuries.

The “Ray” star continued to correct the rumors on social media.

“You see, the eyes are working, the eyes are working well. I’m not a crippler, but I went to hell and back, and my road to recovery also had some pits. But I’m back and I can function.”

The video comes just hours after Foxx posted a photo of himself on top of a gold car with the caption, “Big things are coming.”

The Academy Award winner concluded the video by saying, “I love everyone and I love all the love I get… If you see me from now on and every time you burst into tears, it’s just because it was hard, man. I was sick, man. But now you’ve got my legs under me, so you’ll see me outside.”
