It may be safe to have a USB A to C – OreFolder conversion adapter

In the past, when a smartphone screen was broken and touch operation became impossible, data could be recovered by connecting a mouse using a USB conversion adapter.

Speaking of which, the USB conversion adapter I have is A → microB, but now my smartphone is only type C. If you think about it, this is also in Daiso.

USB A to C converter adapter

It’s a simple package. The contents are only conversion adapters.

It is metallic and shiny. It’s easy to understand because it’s written as “USB A → Type C”.

Convert A to C.

By the way, the size is 31mm x 14.9mm. Since there is only A, the width is taken as such. It can be very difficult to get this into both C ports side by side.

Try to connect and use

I’ve already tried connecting a USB wired mouse to my Pixel 6 via a conversion adapter. If you move the mouse a little after connecting, the mouse cursor will appear on the screen and you can use it. Clicks and wheel scrolling work well, too.

When I tried not only the wired mouse but also the wireless mouse with USB receiver, I was able to use it without any issues. I kind of use this on my computer, so I’m relieved that I can use it like in an emergency.

In addition, I tried a USB stick, but it worked and was recognized without problems.

I actually intended to use this adapter to connect the camera to my MacBook Air. I usually use an A-microB cable to connect my camera to my computer, but my MacBook Air doesn’t have an A port. Since the camera side is microB, should I buy a dedicated cable called microB-C? As I was thinking about it, I realized I could use a conversion adapter to convert it to a microB-C adapter.

However, as a result, it is not well recognized. If anything, this seems to be a problem with the camera and the Mac, so I’ve given up on this one…

summary

USB A → C conversion adapters are also sold on Amazon, etc., but they cost less than 1,000 yen. If you don’t use them much and just want to have them, the 100 yen store should be fine.

I don’t know if I’ll have a chance to use it in the future, but for now, it might be a good idea to have one and put it in your toolbox.

By the way, there are also adapters that convert USB C to A, but this is prohibited by the specification and can be dangerous, so don’t use it.
