Twitter user “JesterPatches” spotted images of the enemies and NPCs, and fans thought they might belong to an animal.

All images are available in two versions. A darker version is barely visible, as well as a lighter, clearer version (via VGC).

Fans believe that the two different looks are meant to show whether or not you’ve actually defeated a character.

However, the big bosses in the game are not represented in these files, so it is possible that such monsters would have focused more on ordinary enemies. Defeating bosses will actually give you an item and a trophy or an achievement, showing who you’ve defeated and who you haven’t.

Looking at the game files, I came across some code that made me believe an animal was planned at some point.
