On Thursday, December 7, 2023, Google announced once again the end of its “Google Podcasts” service, which it had announced two and a half months ago, on Tuesday, September 26, 2023.
Google originally announced that Google Podcasts would be retired in the second half of 2024, but has now announced that it will end its service in the US as early as April 2024. At the earliest, the show will end much earlier than expected.
In preparation for the end of Google Podcasts, Google announced that it will be rolling out a migration tool to YouTube Music for podcast creators in the coming weeks. The link to the Google Podcasts YouTube Music migration tool will be placed as a banner on the Google Podcasts screen.
Additionally, in the US, Google Podcasts will be available for listening to podcasts until March 2024, and it will be possible to migrate or export subscriptions until July 2024. In other words, even if Google Podcasts ends its service in April 2024, it will not be shut down suddenly; Available for migration or export for several months.
