Development Engineer (m/f/d), Micro and Nanotechnology

Development Engineer (m/f/d), Micro and Nanotechnology

Tender Number: HLL 7/2022

Job offer from 1 September 2022

The Max Planck Society Semiconductor Laboratory (MPG HLL) develops and manufactures radiation sensors and detection systems for use in X-ray astronomy, high energy physics and materials research. Projects are designed and implemented in close cooperation with universities and international research institutes, developing, producing and integrating sensors into the internal process and integration line. MPG HLL is expected to move into a new building at the Garching research site next year and will comprehensively renew and expand its technology. In particular, this extension makes MPG HLL part of a file Munich Quantum Valley (MQV), which requires a fundamental adaptation of existing technology and the installation of new process steps. For these new tasks, we look forward to strengthening our development team from now on a Development Engineer (m/f/d), Micro and Nanotechnology

You will work in a small team alike to further develop technology for the production of radiation sensors and to install and qualify new processes required for the production and integration of photonic integrated circuits (PICs). You have the opportunity to play a key role in defining, installing and qualifying the new process steps from the start.

your tasks

  • Conceive, plan and carry out preliminary investigations in system manufacturers to configure new process systems (CMP, electron beam lithography, various plasma processes)
  • Installation of systems in the clean room and rehabilitation of operations
  • Support and continue development of operations and technical support for systems
  • Process flow protection through regular qualification works on the respective systems
  • Participate in the technological implementation of new approaches in the development of new radiation sensors and/or optical integrated circuits for quantum computing

  • In-depth knowledge of semiconductor processing is recommended
  • Interest in understanding the technical implementation of complex chemical and physical processes
  • High level of commitment and team spirit
  • Systematic approach and creativity in problem solving
  • Responsible and meticulous work style
  • Getting ready to work in a clean room

our distance

  • Challenging and varied tasks in international research projects
  • Intensive training and very good training opportunities
  • A fixed-term position initially for a period of three years
  • Pay according to TVöD (Federal Government) depending on qualifications and experience
  • Normal working hours 39 hours per week, no shifts, no work on weekends
  • Very good connection with public transport and discounts in the Munich Transport Association (monthly support can be obtained for IsarCardJob) and with the Deutsche Bahn (DB business ticket)
