Who among us has never been annoyed by the way their smartphone, video conferencing tools, or other computer software works? We all know from painful experience that technology is not always designed to be intuitive and easy to use. This is because users are rarely involved in developing technical tools, says Danish computer scientist Susanne Bodker. She has been working on participatory technology design for nearly four decades, and recently visited Vienna at the invitation of the Austrian Academy of Sciences.
Ola Ebner spoke to Susanne Bödker about how it is necessary to design technologies with their users.

The US wants to require AI companies to test their software in the future and stop relying on voluntary self-regulation of companies like Open
Leave the AI. This should especially be the case if the programs pose risks to national security and public health and safety.
