Cyberpunk 2077 was one of the most anticipated games of the year, and arguably always, by promising a lot of good in a single project. However, as CD Projekt Red himself admitted, the release was disastrous and simple.

The game has been delayed a few times, but despite that, it has become completely unplayable on last generation consoles, and truth be told, this is where the vast majority of gamers still reside.

In fact, if we’re totally honest, the studio has used a deceptive strategy by never using videos from the PS4 and Xbox One versions in their promotional actions. In other words, the team knew the game was bad, but even so, they did everything they could to sell it, strong and ugly.

So, according to data from Valve (responsible for the Steam platform), Cyberpunk 2077 is still able to connect 200,000 players at the same time, and in fact, it is in the silver category, in the part of the best-selling games. That is, Cyberpunk 2077 along with other titles such as Resident Evil Village and Monster Hunter World.

Why success after a fiasco? Well, the studio has vowed to redeem itself, and so far it hasn’t failed. After all, after being removed from PSN, after some patches, the game came back on June 21, 2021 and, surprisingly, became the best-selling title on the platform, only the following month.

However, the reviews on Steam, which were clearly very negative in the first days after the release, are now in “extremely positive” territory.

Cyberpunk is on the right track, but there is still a lot to do!

In the words of CD Projekt Red president, Cyberpunk 2077 will, in the end, be an amazing game, able to deliver everything that the initial premise showed.

However, all the extra work seems to have pushed the “next generation” versions a bit into the future. However, for now, it’s very likely that gamers will want a flawless version, rather than doing something in three strokes, on next-generation consoles.
