Copenhagen Airport will be Denmark’s largest site for ABB’s electric charging stations

Zurich – ABB’s cargo infrastructure will play a key role in making Copenhagen Airport carbon neutral by 2030 as part of a long-term agreement. Over the next 10 years, ABB will supply energy company EWII with 1,350 charging stations to install at one of Scandinavia’s busiest airports, which will become Denmark’s largest electric vehicle charging site. The installation of the first 180 AC charging stations and 15 fast charging devices is scheduled for 2022. Financial details of the agreement have not been disclosed.

Copenhagen Airport was looking for a comprehensive electric vehicle charging solution for more than 80,000 passengers and daily on-site parking staff. Express freight options were also in demand, for example for taxi drivers who drop off passengers or companies responsible for transporting passengers, handling baggage or catering at the airport.

To meet these demands, EWII has entered into collaborations with several partners, including ABB for the delivery of 1,350 charging stations. The charging infrastructure includes charging stations from across the ABB portfolio, from the 22kW Terra AC charging box to the recently launched Terra 360, the world’s fastest integrated charging station. The Terra 360 offers a range of up to 100 km in less than three minutes and is the only charging station expressly designed to charge up to four vehicles at the same time. (m/y)
