DC Studios is wasting no time setting a release date Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow Now that the film has found its director.
The high-profile film will hit theaters on June 26, 2026, DC and Warner Bros. have announced. It's the second film to get a release date since James Gunn and Peter Safran were brought in to overhaul DC under the new DC Studios banner. The first was Supermanwhich Gunn is currently filming for a July 2025 release date.
Flimmaker Craig Gillespie was employed by Gunn and Safran to herd sheep Supergirlstarring Millie Alcock (Dragon House). She will play Superman's Kara Zor-El, Superman's cousin. Inspired by the comics of Tom King and Bilquis Evely, the feature will move away from the serious look at the characters that audiences have come to know on The CW. Supergirl series.
Plan for Supergirl to begin filming this fall, according to insiders. DC Studios also has a Batman feature in the works from director Andy Muschietti.
In addition to Supergirl, Warner Bros. announced. On a number of other dates for some of her notable films, including New Line's Mortal Kombat 2which will be released in theaters on October 24, 2025. A science fiction thriller film produced by New Line. Companion The year will begin and open on January 10, 2025.
The pic is produced by Zach Cregger alongside Raphael Margules and JD Lifshitz of BoulderLight Pictures and Roy Lee of Vertigo, with Drew Hancock directing. A splinter horror team is also behind the film Weaponswhich will open on January 16, 2026. Krieger is directing this film.
Warners also announced the release date for the holiday motion picture Margie Closewhich is scheduled to open on November 5, 2027. Melissa McCarthy stars and produces alongside Ben Falcone and Pilar Flynn.
