With magic and brains to victory

In the cute children’s game Gigamon by Johann Roussel and Karim Aouidadum, two to four people fight to enter the mysterious guild. To do this, nine face-down tiles are placed on the playing field. According to the well-known principle of note, two tiles are revealed.

If the triggers are different, they are rolled back and nothing happens. If two identical tiles are found, the active one takes the tiles and the field is filled up again.

But what exactly is hidden behind the tiles to be collected? Displayed there are lovable Elemons, small mystical creatures that can be used to summon large Gigammons. If you collect at least three identical Emmons, you can discard them to take the matching Gigamon. Thus, the person who first summoned three Gigamon moves to the Magical Guild and wins the game.

Little ones make the big difference

So is Gigamon an ordinary diary game after all, consisting only of a smaller playing field and a special victory condition? no! Because Gigamon can do more. Elemons make up the special trick. When two identical Elemons are detected, their magic ability can be used. You can destroy Elemons from others, reserve tiles or exchange your Elemons with Elemons from others. There are a total of seven Elemons, which tactically expand the memoir game with their unique abilities and thus allow a certain depth of play even for young children.

Gigamon offers immersion into fantastic worlds

With a magically illustrated children’s game, children can immerse themselves in a fantasy world. The rules are quickly understood, the game structure is very simple and the cute Elemons and Gigamons instantly win the hearts of children.

After just a few games, the little ones can explain the game to each other and start new rounds themselves. About 15 minutes long, the game is entertaining and younger ones are also taken with it. Its combination of memorization, tactical gameplay, and an exhilarating story amazed all the kids on my test rides.

I rarely stayed in a game and often played until all the gigamons had already been summoned. Regardless of whether someone has already won. Preschool children had as much fun as primary school children, and grandparents fought with their grandchildren to join the magical guild. Children often outplayed adults and snatched the coveted jigamon right from under Grandma and Grandpa’s noses.

Rounds of the game with two to three people were very interesting for all participants, but with four people it sometimes took a long time for someone to fulfill the winning conditions. But this did not take away from the children’s fun.

Who must fight to enter the magic guild?

Gigamon is for anyone who wants to add a little depth to the classic memoir game. Whether children play among themselves or with adults, the game invites generations to connect. Experienced kids can master their first games from the age of 4 and even older kids aren’t necessarily superior when playing with younger siblings. Even adults have to focus well to stand a chance against kids.

By the way, the game is not entirely new. In 2015 it won the title of “Children’s Toy of the Year” in France and also won other awards. In addition to the proven memo principle, attractive graphic design and high-quality game materials also played a role. Let’s wait and see if it can also register in Germany and if the children’s game title of the year will be added to the nomination. The Magic Guild is sure to root for you!
