Asus ROG Flow Z13 ACRNM Review – Convertible Gaming With RTX 4070 Laptop

Asus ROG Flow Z13 ACRNM Review – Convertible Gaming With RTX 4070 Laptop

Last year’s ROG Flow Z13 was already unique with its Core i9-12900H and GeForce RTX 3050 Ti and with the 2023 model, GPU performance in particular has been upgraded again. The new GeForce RTX 4070 laptop is used in our own version of ACRNM, which is why current games can also be displayed in QHD resolution without any problems. With the Core i9-13900H, a very powerful processor is also used. The most striking feature of the Special Edition is, of course, the body design with its milled back panel and the extra material in the corners including the attachment points for the provided carrying strap. We really like the design and, above all, the convertible is very sturdy and almost like a rugged device, which is of course also reflected in the heavy weight of 1.7kg (including the keyboard cover).

When it comes to the keyboard cover, the ACRNM version is also different from the regular ROG Flow Z13 and two different versions are included. Here you have to distinguish between two things. First of all, the two keyboard covers are slightly thicker than the regular version, which has a positive effect on stability, and we haven’t tested an attachable keyboard that provides a comfortable typing experience. However, the lettering or lettering contrast is a disaster and here the design definitely took priority. Those who cannot write blindly are often upset here.

With the ACRNM version of the ROG Flow Z13, Asus is introducing extremely powerful gaming transformability with a similarly extreme design. Thanks to the new RTX 4070 laptop, current games also render smoothly on the WQHD display.

The RTX 4070 laptop performs well, but it should be noted that only the 65W version is used. Larger gaming laptops with the RTX 4070 laptop or RTX 4060 laptop offer more performance, but due to the compact dimensions the results are still very good overall and there is also a significant increase in performance over its predecessor. The fans can be heard clearly, especially in Turbo mode, there are slight vibrations as well, and we could even make a high-pitched noise in standby mode.

The screen now offers a WQHD resolution with 165 Hz and is used in both the ACRNM version and the regular Flow Z13. In general, the IPS panel with high frequency and fast response times gives a good impression for games and even some photo editing operations are possible without any problems, and PWM is not used.

Unfortunately, the regular ROG Flow Z13 is only available with an RTX 4060 laptop (or a 4050 laptop and an RTX 2050 laptop), though those are also the 65W versions. Here we don’t understand why RTX 4070 laptop is only available for special edition. The regular Flow Z13’s design is more conservative, which will surely please some customers. We currently have the model with the RTX 4060 laptop in our editorial team and the test report will be published soon. The ideal ROG Flow Z13 would be the regular case with the RTX 4070 laptop and the thick keyboard cover of the ACRNM version, but without the unnecessary and sometimes confusing labels. However, in the convertible segment, the ROG Flow Z13 still has little competition and that’s where you’ll have to switch to 14-inch gaming laptops if you want to achieve a similar level of performance.
