A new gamer’s paradise in the center of Vienna: THQ Nordic opens shop

When the night on the Landstraßer Hauptstraße has recently become as bright as the day, it is because of the new THQ Nordic store, which displays computer games on huge screens. The company is Austria’s largest producer of computer games and operates 60 game development studios worldwide.

Since March 1, collectors’ items and, of course, toys can be purchased in the main shop between Vienna City and Landstrasse. Apart from that, gamers will also be able to ‘gamble’ with the games before they are released.

KURIER asked if the store was a place for nerds – “Of course not. Every grandmother can come to us and buy something for her grandchildren, ”says spokesman Florian Emmerich.

By the way, great-grandmothers of all ages are welcome in the store: SpongeBob SquarePants no longer lives in a pineapple in the depths of the sea, but in the THQ store. In addition to action games like “Gothic” or “Darksiders”, THQ Nordic also produces SpongeBob SquarePants games. If you want something a little more noble, you’ll also find silver jewelry – made in Austria – that pays homage to ‘Gothic’ and ‘Darksiders’.

Austrian Games

With the opening of the new flagship store, many people are discovering for the first time that Austria is the home of major video game producers. The company has been based in Vienna since 2011, and the offices are located directly above the new store. By the way, this will be open daily from 10 am to 8 pm, Monday to Saturday. Special events are also planned. However, in concrete terms, they do not want to reveal anything yet.
