The Asus ROG Strix XG27AQMR is clocked at 300Hz and certified with DisplayHDR 600. The monitor is already known to some without the R name, as it is only clocked at 270Hz, and with DisplayHDR 400 it is not really HDR compatible. We introduce the new model briefly.
Asus introduced the ROG Strix XG27AQMR, an HDR-equipped gaming monitor with a 300Hz refresh rate. 27-inch IPS screen, WHQD resolution (2560 x 1440 pixels). Some of the technical characteristics will look familiar. the ROG Strix XG27AQM Not very similar in name but also in technical terms but only comes in 270Hz, DisplayHDR 400 and 8-bit while the ROG Strix XG27AQMR with R at the end hits the already mentioned 300Hz, is DisplayHDR 600 certified and has a 10-bit panel with it. Typical brightness is 350 nits, and contrast is typical for IPS at 1,000:1.
The response time is also different: the old model is listed as 0.5ms, and the new model is 1ms gray-to-gray. Both values are probably too high for an LCD panel, and you can probably use the old model test as a guide for a realistic assessment. The former model is one of the best options in gaming in terms of latency as measured input lag of 2ms.
The XG27AQMR understands VRR in Freesync Premium Pro and G-Sync compatible form, has ELMB and many features offered by Asus that should keep gamers happy – including Game Fast and Game Visual. The monitor is connected to DisplayPort 1.4 and HDMI 2.0. Viewport should be used accordingly for best results. There’s also a 5Gb/s USB hub, two A plugs, and a headphone jack. Asus hasn’t wanted to talk about pricing and availability just yet. In Germany it will probably be more than 1,000 euros.
