We call “Old School Role Playing”, re-summon “Baldur’s Gate”! Few games have received as much cult status as the Dungeons & Dragons action role-playing game series. RPGs were pretty much dead when Baldur’s Gate took the stage. In our big roundup, you’ll learn how a small Canadian team (yes, Bioware started small!) brought the genre to life almost single-handedly.
The Prime subscription gets you the Enhanced Edition from 2012, which looks much better than the original version. But of course you can’t expect a lot of graphics, that’s not the whole point. Story, team battles, and companions are at the heart of Baldur’s Gate.
The game will celebrate its 25th birthday in 2023, and it is possible that it will finally get the long-awaited successor Baldur’s Gate 3 – but this is not coming from Bioware, but from Larian Studios (Divinity: Original Sin 2). Classics fans can look forward to seeing old friends again.
