A chicken and caterpillar go on an Adventure Chicken in our comic book review – the ntower tower

To get right to the point, Adventure Chicken is very short and very entertaining and King Stocki was pretty dumb at the end of the story. There are a lot of sayings from my 11-year-old son, who had already grabbed the book before I could even read it in the review transcript. Okay, so I’ve been warned now, but it’s actually full of expectations, because my son is usually, with few exceptions, uninterested in the comics I review here at ntower. This is either because they usually don’t play Duckburg or they are simply not intended for his age. But since we kept the chicken to ourselves, and admittedly the cover was intriguing, it allowed me to take it and read the book in half an hour.

Oops, why are chickens wearing susan caterpillar?

We go straight to the story with the drama. Larva Suzanne lies comfortably in its cocoon to empty, then the chicken throws its cocoon with the sword and crashes to the ground. Now it was the butterfly cocoons that made Susan really angry, of course. But adventure chickens aren’t called that name for nothing and suggest you go out and search for new silk for the cocoon. So they go to Fire Mountain, because there are scales of stars … but also dragons, and that’s why they change their minds. Maybe in Froschbach after all? Reluctantly, Susan embarks on an adventure with chickens, so they both set out to search for new silk for the cocoon.

On the way they meet a princess, all sorts of monsters that want her feathers as well as a new king. Adventure Huhn is as crazy and imaginative as you’d expect from a book by this title. I was expecting an imaginary setting in the best RPG outfits and got just that, including sneaking into a castle, attending a coronation and wedding party between a piece of wood and a princess, sorry queen. Roles nicely distributed, Susan is annoyed relatively quickly and sees only the big common goal before her eyes. Chickens like to be distracted a lot and seem to be only thinking from moment to moment. A chicken does not mean anger. On the contrary, Adventure Huhn has a big heart, as she offers her help to everyone at all costs. Sometimes it gets used up, which doesn’t always close right away, but it does very well in interacting with Susan. Of course, it will not be revealed here whether and how the adventure will end, but it must be said that both parties achieve their goal, albeit differently from what was originally thought.

conclusion

Franziska Ruflair has made a superb debut with Adventure Huhn, which records an amazing short story, quirky characters, and hilarious dialogues. Above all, the two protagonists Susan and Hun complement each other in their characteristics and together form a great team, even if the caterpillar would certainly interpret it differently. The chicken is very helpful and then gets lost in helping when he gradually wants to stand next to more and more people. He and the others fall to the side of the road, as Huhn manages to magically straighten everything. Visually, Ruflair presents us with a lively and imaginative world where a lot of simple-minded creatures seem to be home, some with bad intentions. The style of drawing is special and often simple, although in some panels it is not always optimally designed due to diagonal perspectives. This style is deliberately chosen because other Ruflair works on their homepage show a much broader range of their skills. Adventure chickens are off the line, but somehow this chicken also fits with the sword. We welcome new adventures and they should also appear in 2021. The Dragon has promised us …
