Thanks to the determination of the Kon Plong District Government and the participation of technology companies such as VNPT and Mang Den, tourism is gradually changing and developing intelligently and sustainably.
Amidst the majestic mountains and forests of the Central Highlands, there is a place known as “Da Lat II” – Mang Din (Kon Plong District, Kon Tum). Without the hustle and bustle of the main tourist areas, Mang Din stands out for its pristine beauty, cool climate and eerie tranquility.
But Mang Den is not just limited to natural potential, it is gradually transforming and developing smart tourism by using digital technology to exploit its inherent appeal.
“The precious jewel” among thousands
Located on the Kon Plong Plateau in Kon Tum Province, Mang Din is blessed with a cool climate and a diverse ecosystem all year round. There are poetic natural paintings with crystal clear forests and lakes. At Mang Din, visitors not only find peace in nature, but also have the opportunity to immerse themselves in the life of the local people. This is an advantage that only a few places in Vietnam can match, a place that still retains its wild nature and is still close enough to connect with major cities.
Mr. Pham Van Thang, Vice Chairman of the Con Plong District People's Committee, said that 83% of the area of this place is covered by forests.
Since tourism was a strength, the leaders of Kon Plong decided that this place should have its own identity. Therefore, forest preservation is a prerequisite for tourism development. In addition, the place also preserves the culture and attracts people to learn how to do tourism in famous villages across the country.
The district chief of Kon Plong said that tourism in Mang Den has developed very well in the past two years and many people have chosen to stay overnight. Kon Plong Hotel has 130 accommodation properties accommodating 5,000 to 6,000 guests per night. In mid-October, the region also launched the Night Economic Zone to meet the growing demand from tourists.
But to be more than just a focal point for peace seekers, Kon Plong District leaders realize that the use of digital technology for sustainable development is an inevitable path that helps “touch” many tourists while preserving precious peace and natural values.
The bridge brings Mang Din closer to tourists
And in Mang Den, technology – although still quite new – is determined to become the “key” to unlocking new horizons in tourism. Mr. Thang said that the region is focusing on digital transformation to develop tourism when investing in smart cities. Currently, the region is allocating VND30 billion to invest in this project. Kon Plong has updated its website, provided free Wi-Fi coverage at tourist attractions, and built virtual reality tourism so that visitors can not only experience Mang Den before they arrive, but can also “relive” it every moment of the trip.
In addition, smart travel applications are also being used. For example, the Mang Den Tourism portal provides tourists with information about hotels, motels, travel destinations, places to live, etc. In addition, the Mang Den Tourism app provides great and convenient features such as search and directions to important sites based on the user's location; Create itineraries based on the user's travel preferences. Suggestions for attractions and special offers…
Instead of being limited to traditional promotional materials, all information about Mang Den is now available on visitors' smartphones.
On the road of developing smart tourism in Mang Den, VNPT plays an important role. VNPT's advanced technological solutions have contributed to improving the quality of service in the region, from the deployment of Wi-Fi to modern technological infrastructure to make the tourist experience more convenient.
Mr. Fu Pang Giang, Deputy Director of VNPT, said that as a member of the Kon Plong Digital Transformation Committee, this unit has been involved in advising the region and accompanying the place in shaping smart tourism. In addition, VNPT is constantly investing in 4G and 5G network infrastructure to improve high-quality mobile coverage to serve the socio-economic development of Kon Plung.
“VNPT's infrastructure meets international standards, and thus it has sufficient infrastructure capacity to provide digital services in the region, ensuring the security of system information,” Mr. Jiang emphasized.
Although this is just the beginning, thanks to the determination of the government, businesses and society, Mang Din is gradually turning into a smart and sustainable tourism destination. We believe that with this design, Mang Dien will not only preserve the wild and pristine nature, but also be a model example of smart tourism in the Central Highlands region and become a new bright spot on the tourism map of Vietnam.
