Climate protection is of great importance to many young people. YoungCaritas now offers the necessary framework conditions with ReinSaat GmbH. Through the “SAATs so GUT!” Participants can make a sustainable contribution in a number of ways and also support a social project. The pilot project has now started with the Caritas Training Center for Health and Social Professions in the Games.
The first semester of the 3-year Technical School for Social Professions (FSB) started in the spring with class teacher Brigitte Abel and Jonah Yaghi, expert at ReinSaat GmbH. Leading up to the event, the students discussed sustainability and climate justice. Then I planted different seasonal vegetables in several raised beds in the school garden. The seed comes from biodynamic farming. At the same time, new diverse experiments are being worked on.
The goal is to turn the crop into a healthy snack or other products. It can then either be sold to a good cause or taken directly to a social facility and combined with a cooking campaign, for example. Stefan Schmalhofer of youngCaritas St. Pölten & Nö West.
Barbara Heigl, Director of BiGS, is also enthusiastic about the campaign: “In the past few weeks, students have been able to learn a lot about sustainability and proper cultivation through the valuable collaboration with ReinSaat GmbH. Now the students are looking forward to regular care of the plants and of course hope to have a great harvest so that they can make themselves and others happy.”
