Group chats tend to be confusing. And not just for texting. They also come alive when entertaining large groups. Whatsapp is now taking countermeasures with new features.
Berlin – Muting participants, direct messages to other participants and notifications about joining: These three new features aim to make group conversations with Whatsapp more comfortable and organized. After all, with as many as 32 potential participants the messenger allows, it can quickly turn into a mess.
Muting directed at others can be useful, for example, if background noise can be heard from one or more participants during a conference audio call. The new messaging feature allows you to quickly and directly message others in the group without missing a conversation.
What about banner notifications? If a new participant joins the conference voice call but cannot be seen on their own screen due to group size and limited viewing area, you will receive a banner notification saying “XY has joined the call.” So you can always be sure to know if someone has joined – and who they are. dpa
