In the power menu of Android smartphones there is an item called “Lockdown” with shutdown and restart. Some of you may have wondered what this is, but have never used it.
If you click on this “lock”, you will not be able to unlock the lock using fingerprint or face authentication only once. It is a security feature.
Turn on the shutdown
Usage is simple. Press and hold the power button (or volume up and power button) to bring up the power menu,Closejust click

Press Lockdown to return to the lock screen. at this time,Notifications, Fingerprint, Face Unlock, Smart Power OffIt will be in the image above, the lock icon replaces the regular fingerprint icon.
Unlocking requires a non-biometric method, such as a PIN code or pattern. Once you open it, you will be able to unlock it again using biometric authentication from next time.
This feature is available on Android 9 and above. For Android 9 or Android 10, in SettingsSecurity and locationIf you go to the lock screen settings fromShow insurance optionsThere is an item called If you turn it on, it will appear in the power menu.
On Android 11 and above, if you set a phone lock (such as a code or pattern), it will appear in the power menu. (If it does not appear, try restarting once.)
When to use
Although biometrics are convenient, they say it is less secure than other unlocking methods. It’s easy for people who live together to hack fingerprint authentication using their fingers while they sleep.
Also, if you make your home a “trusted place” with Smart Lock, it will unlock when you’re at home. It is also effective if you have this setting and want to lock it temporarily.
I don’t think you’ll use it often, but it doesn’t hurt to know it’s there.
