– Vodafone has operated a new 5G+ mobile station on the square of Forchheim train station. With the opening, the group also begins the next expansion phase of its mobile network in the region.
By mid-2024, Vodafone will implement a total of three more projects to build mobile communications in the region in order to close dead spots, strengthen the existing network, as well as bring the 5G+ network to the region. This is what the company says in its latest announcement.
“Mobile data traffic in the region is growing rapidly – at an annual growth rate currently exceeding 30 percent. So people are browsing the Internet via mobile phone more and more,” says Vodafone.
The aim is to further enhance the existing mobile network as well as connect the entire population to 5G and 5G+ by 2025. Vodafone will initially largely use existing mobile communications infrastructure and, where possible, operate its 5G and 5G+ antennas at its existing 5G mobile sites. 35 locations in the area.
Currently, 21 locations in the region are already 5G-equipped – and the top five are already 5G+. Another 5G construction project in the region is scheduled for mid-2024. Specifically, the current site in Hallerndorf will be upgraded to a 5G station in the next few months, Vodafone says.
