(VOVWORLD) – At the United Nations Headquarters in New York, the Economic and Finance Committee of the seventy-seventh session of the United Nations General Assembly held a discussion on climate change, the environment and biodiversity.

Country representatives expressed concern that climate change, environmental pollution and loss of biodiversity are having a negative impact on the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. They called on the international community to strengthen partnership and support developing countries in confronting climate and environmental challenges while implementing the Sustainable Development Goals.
Deputy Head of Vietnam's delegation to the United Nations, Envoy Nguyen Hoang Nguyen, said during the discussion that with more than 80 percent of the Sustainable Development Goals being implemented slower than schedule, all countries must make efforts to implement their commitments. . At the same time, he suggested some issues that the United Nations and countries should prioritize strengthening in the coming period. It was about strengthening national, regional and global climate action. It should also call on partners to strengthen financial assistance so that developing countries have sufficient resources to implement their relevant commitments.
Vietnam will continue to meet its climate commitments, including the net-zero target in 2050, Nguyen Hoang Nguyen said.
