Innovation from Arvato Systems makes video viewing unnecessary.
The Vidispine team at Arvato Systems has announced the launch of its new Web Rendering Engine (WRE). This technology eliminates the need to render video, taking news production to a new level.
The challenge
In the fast-paced and dynamic world of news production, every second counts. Breaking news and emerging events require rapid turnaround to keep audiences informed and engaged.
Rendering times in non-linear editing systems (NLEs) can significantly hamper modern news production workflows. Journalists and editors often need to make quick changes, such as cutting clips, adding transitions, or adjusting audio levels. These adjustments typically require rendering to create a final, sendable result. Delays caused by long rendering times can result in important message cycles being missed and hinder team collaboration.
“Revolution without giving”
Vidispine’s Web Rendering Engine (WER) enables content to be stored and edited efficiently without the need to render individual sequences. This technology allows multiple editors to work on the same content at the same time, regardless of their locations. The immediate availability of edited sequences without rendering them greatly speeds up the entire production process.
For fast-moving workflows such as news production, sequences can be played directly to video servers via SDI, NDI and SMPTE 2110/2022-6 without the need for rendering or file transfer.
Live Demos at IBC 2024
“The introduction of our Web Render Engine is a milestone in news production. This pioneering technology will increase efficiency and enable media creators to create content faster and more flexibly. We look forward to presenting the future of media production at IBC and showing it live,” says Stefan Eckardt, Portfolio Leader on the Vidispine team at Arvato Systems.
