A gamer wants to transport his gaming PC in a suitcase and is caught in a whirlwind of nonsense. He still moves his computer this way.
If you want to travel or just plan to move, you should also take care of transporting your things. Particularly sensitive devices, such as gaming PCs, require a lot of care.
One gamer solved the problem of moving his computer in an unusual way. Because he packed his gaming PC into a suitcase and moved it that way for 15 hours.
The community did not find this idea funny at all, so the user quickly deleted his first post. He explained in his second message that he had completed the trip and that his computer was still working.
Your gaming PC survives the long journey
How did the trip end? He writes about it himself On Reddit:
In case anyone is interested, I was the OP who got hate in my previous deleted post with this photo attached. My computer is fine and working! I removed the GPU, removed the RAM, stuffed the interior with fabric and packed everything in bubble wrap. I was on a 9 hour flight and then a 6 hour flight.
The reactions are very different. Some still think the idea is incredibly crazy and believe it will harm devices. And you don’t want to put a €1,500 graphics card at risk of damage that easily.
Another asks how exactly he traveled. He himself wanted to move with his computer, but a trolley case seemed to be a cheaper option than insured shipping (via reddit.com):
I don’t have the context from the original post because I’ve never seen it before, but did you consider it carry-on luggage or just regular baggage?
I’m mainly asking because I’m probably moving with my computer, but I was considering insured shipping instead and that seems like a much cheaper option.
Most people are at least impressed that the user actually followed through with their travel plan and that the PC survived.
Basically, you should at least heed some tips and instructions if you want to take your gaming PC with you on a trip or commute.
Devices must be well secured during transportation
How should I protect my gaming PC? In the best case scenario, you still have the old original packaging from your computer case with the foam protection modules. Because your system fits perfectly here and cannot move inside.
Basically, there is a recommendation to carefully fill the sharp corners of the computer with newspaper. Some manufacturers recommend using an air-inflated garbage bag to fill larger gaps. Bubble wrap is also a good and safe option to protect individual components.
However, you should carefully fill paper, foil and other packaging materials in your suitcase. There is a risk of damaging components with force and pressure. Anti-static film is also recommended for sensitive components.
What can you do instead to be safe? However, for safety reasons, you can also disassemble and transport individual components individually:
- You can remove the heavy graphics card and transport it in its own packaging (if available).
- It’s also easier to remove RAM before it bends during transportation or damages the motherboard.
- You can also remove large or heavy coolers for your CPU and move them individually.
Other people buy a new gaming PC and have to worry about annoying issues first. This recently happened to a user who just wanted to play with his gaming PC:
