The use of artificial intelligence is also becoming increasingly popular among companies in Germany. New study by Federal Bureau of Statistics It shows that around one in eight companies (12%) in Germany are already using the technology in some way. However, in general, it can be seen that large companies with 250 or more employees use AI technology much more than small or medium-sized companies.
The spread is most pronounced in large companies at 35%. In medium-sized companies with between 50 and 249 employees, only one in six – 16% – use AI technology. In small businesses with 10 to 49 employees, only one in ten use it.
When examining the surveys, it was found that technologies are most used in accounting, control, or financial management, with a share of 25%. This is followed by 24% for IT security. Artificial intelligence is still used in 22% of cases for production or service processes and in 20% to organize or manage company management processes.
Companies often use AI for speech recognition (43%). Workflow automation or decision-making assistance is also very popular at 32%. 30% of usage goes to analyzing written language or text mining.
However, it also shows that there are still obstacles. Only 10% of companies that have not yet used the technology are considering using it. There seems to be great uncertainty here. Lack of knowledge is the top performer at 72%, followed by concerns about compatibility with existing inventory of hardware, software and systems at 54%. Lack of clarity about legal consequences (51%) and concerns about maintaining data protection and privacy (48%) also hinder the use of technology. Even 22% of these companies consider the use of artificial intelligence in their companies to be completely meaningless.
