Every year just before Christmas, c’t puts together the ultimate PC to build yourself – more precisely, several PCs perfect for different purposes. This year, on the agenda are a powerful gaming PC for 1,700 euros and a compact desktop PC for under 500 euros – the two categories that were most popular in a poll among c’t readers. Both devices remain relatively quiet and economical.
The weekly uplink c’t podcast c’t is available…
Our hardware editors Christian Hirsch, Benjamin Kraft, and Carsten Spell present these ideal PCs: The build suggestions specifically relate to careful matching of the chassis, mainboards, cooling, SSD, memory, as well as the graphics card or integrated graphics. You can find the parts list in the links below and in the articles on c’t 28/2023. But there are also some general tips about components and installation.
The three talk about the obstacles to putting it together, we delve a little into SSDs and general hard drives and their designs, we touch on the topic of monitors and we also talk briefly about applications other than gaming that require a graphics card. And we point out an ideal third PC: the €600 budget gaming rig launched a few months ago is still up to date.
