The claim for Princess Kate's appearance has been removed from the British Army website

LONDON – There has been confusion this week over when Kate, Princess of Wales, will return to royal duties after a recent surgery that kept her out of the public eye for weeks.

Kate, 42, wife of heir to the throne Prince William, was scheduled to appear in June at the Trooping of the Color, a traditional military parade. But the reference on the British Army's website has since been deleted.

She was hospitalized for about two weeks in January for abdominal surgery for unspecified reasons, and Kensington Palace said she would step back from her official royal duties entirely until at least after Easter. The lack of explanation for her surgery and subsequent long recovery led to widespread speculation and a plethora of conspiracy theories online.

Royal enthusiasts took note this week Army website Kate's participation in the Color Squad was announced in London on June 8. She said she would be there to “review” the troops, along with a large photo of herself.

The British Ministry of Defense referred questions regarding the removal of the advertisement to Kensington Palace in London. The palace declined to comment.

Also known as the King's Birthday Parade, it is a traditional display of military pomp and pageantry dating back to the 17th century and featuring 1,400 soldiers on horseback and foot, including 400 military musicians.

The list stated that the soldiers “will be subject to review by Her Royal Highness the Princess of Wales,” announcing tickets priced between 5 pounds ($6.36) and 15 pounds ($19.09). King Charles III is scheduled to review the troops in an almost identical event the following weekend on 15 June.

“The soldiers will be inspected by Her Royal Highness the Princess of Wales, Colonel of the Irish Guards,” the list read, referring to Her Royal Highness the Princess of Wales. Honorary military titleformerly occupied by William.

The listing now simply refers to the event as “The Colonel's Review,” without mentioning Kate by name or any explicit confirmation that she will be there.
